Oooo I actually like the haunted house thing. I vote for that. It doesn't need to actually be haunted, just abandoned or rarely used, but with all the magic around, an actual haunting isn't out of the question. We should probably vote. Well I'm still voting for the supposedly haunted house.

Should anypony in our group own the place, or should it just be there, like the owners use it for vacation and didn't come this year, or maybe it's that one house in every neighborhood that all the foals are convinced is haunted? Honestly I'm not a fan of a house that's haunted. If it's a house then there are amenities and such already in place. The idea of a sawmill or an abandoned miner camp is more interesting in my opinion.

Remind me, when exactly are we, besides a generic "winter"?

Remind me, when exactly are we, besides a generic "winter"? Right after Hearts Warming Eve, so just your typical post-holiday seasons Winter.

They barely seem to move at all unless pushed, and it doesn't seem like dumping tons of snow would be something they could do on their own. I mean, it's not like the clouds are automated or anything. Heh. Automatic weather! The very thought. Can you even imagine?Anyway, I just pictured the local weather team getting confused and accidentally making a storm that was stronger than it was supposed to be, or maybe making two storms at the same time that somehow rolled together.

I always thought that they just got the time wrong, but they could also make the storm stronger than it was supposed to be.

Perhaps a nearby ski resort commissioned a commercial weather team to give them some snow. The weather team manufactured a snowstorm at the bottom of the mountains, where there's more moisture to work with. Due to reasons (shoddy management, poor communication, a bout of feather flu going around), the weather team lost control of their snowstorm while pushing it up the mountain, and it rolled down onto Winter Haven.
Unrelated: seems every character is heading into town. How do we get them to the abandoned logging camp?

That could work. Unrelated: seems every character is heading into town. How do we get them to the abandoned logging camp? I had plans for Chiselle to get lost in the blinding storm and to just wind up there.

I've got Digitalis planning a trip, which is supposed to get him far enough out of town to be near the cabin/camp and take shelter there, but I'm not sure what the others are planning, and right now the good doctor's busy looking for cuprite. Also, the various possibilities for the unexpected blizzard are why I took the liberty of describing the weather schedule as "hopelessly confusing". I hope no one minds. I don't know what a weather planning schedule would look like, but I keep imagining an esoteric jumble of numbers, symbols, and technical jargon.
