Bio: An associate professor of paleohistory at the University of Canterlot who somehow manages to do more fieldwork than actual teaching. Clay thinks of archaeology as meticulous and detail-oriented business that would probably bore ponies whose only knowledge of the subject comes from best-selling novels - and he'll readily grumble all about those ponies and their unrealistic expectations while removing a solid-gold Chachapony fertility idol from its booby-trapped pedestal. He will also grumble about treasure hunters and tomb robbers who are only in it for fortune and glory, or for book deals. He has no problem whatsoever with snakes, but bats give him the willies.
