Copper Miner reminds me of Sarah Winchester. Yea, that was the inspiration for the story. One of my favorite houses to visit when I go out to California.

If we go with Digitalis' idea, I'm leaving it open, in case you didn't notice. We could try going to the sunroom, or to the basement in the hopes of finding a furnace, or find one nice room to warm up and hunker down in, or try lighting, warming up, and possibly disarming as much of the house as possible (giving more running room and thus minimizing the chances of somepony going stir crazy, or split up and try several, or someone could think up something completely different.
