I liked the musical number. I thought it was the best of the season so far. I liked the pony pity pile. Then there's no point in fucking discussing this with you. You fell for this bullshit like a sucker, and refuse to acknowledge Rainbow Retard did anything wrong.

Wrong, and wrong. I enjoyed this episode. I didn't say it was flawless, and you might have missed the couple of times I equated RD's actions in this episode with domestic terrorism and industrial sabotage. The lack of consequences here is completely unrealistic. I'm letting it go because it's a cartoon, and it amused me, and there have been plenty of times in the last five years when stuff didn't make sense anyway.

So, let's talk "Slice of Life". What did you all think of it? I thought it was a fun, if a bit silly, episode. In particular, I enjoyed the royal sisters act like, well, siblings. That may have been my favorite single moment. What about you all?

I loved the episode. My only real complaint is that LyraBon really played up the "Best friend" aspect while acting like a couple that is in a long term relationship. They were more than just "best friends."
I'll be honest though, this episode really made me miss the slice of life episode that MLP:FiM did in Season 1 and 2. They should do more of those IMHO.

It's not like at least one half of a married couple has never referred to the other half as their "best friend". Really, you kind of have to be best friends if you want to go into something as serious as marriage.

MLP:FiM is a 30 minute advertisement for their toy line and they don't want to fuck that up with controversy. This fandom (and those associated by proxy) do not handle controversy well. I was happy to see that Vinyl Scratch and Octavia were more friends than an actual couple.

I was happy to see that Vinyl Scratch and Octavia were more friends than an actual couple. Précisément. Hasbro is a wealthy multi-national corporation. Regardless of what they may or may not want to say as people, they clearly spend more than enough time observing and taking notes on the fandom to know that if they so much as whispered that Bon Bon and Lyra were an actual couple, or even said it in sign language or wrote it in Braille or left a string of esoteric Illuminati-esque breadcrumbs or communicated it through scents in the Smell-o-Vision version, this fandom simply would not shut the heck up about it, thereby attracting far more controversy than some other, less popularly-visible show that could get away with publishing a tiny note on the back page of the local high school newspaper that Entirely Insignificant Background Character X and Entirely Insignificant Background Character Y are gay without the worldwide fandom finding out and blowing a gasket. They know that the ensuing controversy could ruin the show, or even the company, if the flames get high enough. It's best for the sake of company finances and fandom unity and tranquility that they just say "best friends" and let the individual fans decide whether that's literal or metaphorical. Personally, I'm amused by the idea of Lyra and Bon Bon actually just being best friends, but unintentionally "acting gay" and disappointing their overly-excitable friends. "Lyra, I want to make sure you still remember those wedding promises we made when we were fillies." [Crowd lets out an excited gasp] "Of course! We'll be each other's maids of honor! Whoever gets married first promises not to intentionally pick ugly dresses, and also promises to help set up a date with the best pick of her husband's groomsmen!" [Crowd lets out a disappointed "Awwww!" and disperses]

That's what makes it funny, "Nigga". *tap, tap, tap* Is this thing on?

So one poster on Derpbiooru proposed that the LyraBon "We're such best friends!" scene was a Rorschach Test created by M.A. Larson. Basically M.A. Larson wrote the scene so that the shippers can interpret it as a wink and a nod to LyraBon, and the anti-shippers can say "See, they're just friends!"

I liked the episode. We finally get resolution to that subplot. Though it did feel a bit rushed, how quickly the redemption happened. Also, I'm sure some of you have also seen the parallels to Magical Mystery Cure.
