"Oh, nothing special," Steel said. "Just binding incantations for Belphegor. I upgraded the de-winterizer by putting it under the control of a demon ritually bound to my will. I figure if he ever gets out of line, it'll be nice to have a way to remind him who's boss." "You... wait. hold on a second. You're powering that deathtrap of a road de-icer... WITH A DEMON?!"

"Oh, no," Steel chuckled. "It's powered by an artificial sun, held in place by an immensely strong magnetic field. I just put Belphegor in control of it. It runs pretty smoothly now, and it doesn't even need a pilot." He beamed. "I'm eighty percent sure it won't crash, next Winter Wrap-Up."

Flux did not have time for existential horror most days, and today was no different. Demons loose in Winter Haven however... "If uhh... If you need extra broadcast strength, I'm sure I could build you an antenna out of scrap metal. Find you a peak with line of sight to wherever you've got this thing, and you should be good."

"Hello."
Page popped out of a random bush.
"Boy, she was a persistent one. Had to hide like I never hid before. Anyway, I heard something about a demon. Is he one of those lust demons? Cause I've always wanted to give that a whirl. But summoning spells were never my forte. That poor cat..."

Steel brightened. "That would help. Right now, the de-winterizer is sitting in my workshop, so it might be good to put a relay on the peak just above it. Do you need any parts? Amplifiers, oscillators, magnetic monopoles...?" "Hello." Page popped out of a random bush. "Boy, she was a persistent one. Had to hide like I never hid before. Anyway, I heard something about a demon. Is he one of those lust demons? Cause I've always wanted to give that a whirl. But summoning spells were never my forte. That poor cat..." Steel shook his head. "Sorry, Belphegor is a demon of invention. And laziness, somehow. But I can ask him to put you in touch with Asmodeus, Lord of Lust, if you like. Or Rosier, the demon of tainted love and seduction. He seems up your alley."

"I can ask him to put you in touch with Asmodeus, Lord of Lust, if you like. Or Rosier, the demon of tainted love and seduction. He seems up your alley." "WE ARE NOT PUTTING PAGE IN CONTACT WITH A DEMON!" Flux blinked, then cleared his throat. "Sorry about that. Yes Steel, come and see me later about the demon antenna you APPARENTLY need to construct." He began slowly backing away. "I'll just be heading on into town. Got lots of stuff to do today!" As soon as he'd lost sight of the two, Flux broke into a run, hoping for the safety and sanity of civilization.

"He's always such a fuddy-duddy...eh, he's right. Summoning demons is a bad idea. I doubt they could keep up with me."
He pushed his glasses up.
"I wonder if I could become an Alicorn by outdoing a personification of lust...I need to go research this. Steel."
He nodded at him, and took off for his store.
SLIGHTLY LATER
"Hey, boring shopkeeper whose name I always forget."
Page stumbled inside, strangely covered in leaves and twigs.
"Tried summoning a primordial spirit of lust. Wound up summoning a talking plant who sang catchy songs. Pretty sure I banished him back...but just in case, don't talk to any bushes that say 'Feed me'...you got any band-aids?"

Coin gave no outward reaction to Page's story. And now he's using mind-altering substances. Great. She pointed to a corner of the shop. "Over there. And my name is Coin. And you should have kept the plant, it would have sold well as a novelty."

And you should have kept the plant, it would have sold well as a novelty." "Wonderful." He meandered over and grabbed a box, returning and dropping a few bits on the counter. "So, how goes your pasty, awkward relationship with Pebble? You get up her shirt yet? I think that's what you do with females, anyway."

"If I have too..." she mumbled to herself, and rearranged the box as to be strapped around her neck and carefully placed the drinks inside. She walked about a hundred meters to find a charcoal-coated pegasus mare lying down near the lake. "Hi there, Miss. Care for a Willow Burr or a mojito? I'll offer you 20% on your next drink at my bar if you try a sample." The earth pony's words and pleasant tone were enough to rouse Autumn from her stupor. The peaceful atmosphere of the lakeside was enough to put one to sleep, but a voice was like a crack of thunder. Still a little woolen from almost falling asleep, Autumn shook her head to try to clear out the fog. "Whaaaa~?" she managed tiredly before spying the wares bulging from Willow's saddlebags. "Oh, sorry, I don't really drink all that much." The pegasus rolled over on the rounded pebbles, feeling them massage her back before getting up and stretching. Cracking open one eye, she glanced back to Willow. "I do appreciate the offer, though. I'll see about stopping by sometime, but I'm normally pretty busy." Autumn straightened up and held out a hoof. "I'm Autumn, by the way. Autumn Storm. What's yours?"

But she quickly smiled again as Autumn extended her hoof and she extended hers. "I'm Willow Burr--yes I named a drink after myself. But anyway, I just moved to Winter Haven a couple of months ago. I've lived in the big cities all my life so it's a nice change of pace. What about you?"

"Are you implying I'm not capable of the same thing? Why, I'm offended at the very notion." He pulled one more good sized twig out of his mane. "Yes, I shuck the corn of any male I fancy. But I'm perfectly capable of that platonic stuff. Like Flux. I wouldn't touch him even if you paid me to. Blech." He slapped a band-aid over a little scrape on his forehead. "...Well, maybe if he asked. I mean, I'm never one to turn down a willing offer...uh...forget what I said. Uh...oh, Pebbles!" He pushed his glasses up. "I'd never shag her. For obvious reasons. And we're mildly decent friends...and if you tell anyone I said that, I'll...uh...say something rude to you."

Mail, one wouldn't think that one word would carry so much weight, but when you are the major conveyance of information for years then you tend to be considered pretty important, even if you are supplanted by newer technologies or any other disruptive influences. This all meant nothing to Nightwing, an art major from a Manehatten college. She was just looking for independence and a place to use her Art Major. One turned out to be useful for motivation and the other... she needed to get recognition as an artist and the Major choice was a choice of passion for art. Well, at least she got this job at the Winterhaven Mail Service.

You've been polite up until now? If so, I'm honestly curious as to what rudeness would be like."
