Coin looked up at the door. She had been looking through her catalogs. "Hello, Flux. I am doing quite well. And you?" "When I left the shop earlier, I would have said great. Now though..." He sighed and made his way to the counter. "For some reason," he whispered, leaning close, "Steel has captured a demon and is using it to power some piece of technology. What's worse, it's a piece of tech HE invented!" Coin nodded, and said in a voice that made it unclear whether she was joking, "Do you know the variety of demon? I have salt, silver, some holy water, and a few different holy symbols."

"I think he said something about Invention, and Laziness of all things. I don't know whether or not we'll need those, but do put them in a bag and have it on standby." He leaned back, composing himself. "What I actually came in for today was kitty litter. My apprentice had a bit of an... accident with some axle grease earlier, and I'm all out."

"Well, that is no surprise," said Willow. "Have you got a job with the town weather commission yet? I know Winter Haven recently split off from the Greater Smoky Mountains Weather Commission to better control the snowfall and such. It's funny, the area's been settled for quite a while now and had its own school, post office, and of course civic center, but no separate weather commission. Then again, Ponyville, with its new princess, still gets all their weather handled by Cloudsdale." She looked down at the mojitos and Willow Burrs still in her box. They already looked like they were starting to weaken in the summer sun. She resolved to get some ice as soon as she could get out of the conversation. The grey pegasus smiled proudly. "Yep yep! I'm the main adviser for the commissioner's overall climate plan. Let me tell you, it's not easy. Some citizens want nothing but sun to enjoy and work outside in, but the farmers and ranchers need a ton of rain to water their crops and pastures. Keeping the balance means making somepony mad..." She trailed off as Willow pointedly looked into her saddlebags. "Oh, terribly sorry! I didn't mean to keep you from whatever you need to do. I hope you aren't late. Do you need a lift?"

Let me get all my other stuff first," she said, and rushed back to get the towel and books that she left wandering. Fortunately they were still all there. She came back ready to go. "So, how do we do this?"

"If the problem is with cat litter, it's probably more cost efficient to just potty train them. Over there." She gestured to a couple bags in a corner, and then smiled mischievously. "Oh! And by the way, Page visited earlier. He stated that he and Chiselle were 'mildly decent friends'. Feel free to let him know I said that if you see him."

"Admit that he has friends? surely not." He laughed. "Honestly I don't know what this town is coming to. How much for 2 bags?"

Safety first and all that", Autumn instructed the earth pony, waggling a forehoof at her. Stretching a bit and spreading her wings to make sure her own pack was settled, she tugged the straps a bit tighter. No need to make a rookie mistake her first week in Winter Haven. Autumn sprang into the air, hovering a couple feet off the ground in front of Willow. "All right, you ready? Last chance to say no."

Hey, if it takes Page with it, I think it's a fair trade." Flux paid the lady, and settled 2 bags of litter on his back. "Seriously though, if you smell anything... sulfurous in the next few days, let me know. I'm going to work with Steel I think. Find out where this thing is."

Willow paused at the thought that she was actually going to be lifted up into the air. She really expected just some help in bringing her stuff back to the bar. On the other hoof, she thought, it might be faster if she herself were lifted, if this pegasus was really that strong. But she tightened her packs just the same, and nodded. "I'm ready," she said. "My place should be easy to spot--it's got a sign with a maretini on it."

Coin smiled, "Good luck. If you need any 'supplies', feel free to come by." "Will do. Thanks again!" Flux made his way back towards his shop. He made it to the edge of town before stopping. 'I could just go back to the shop and end the day. I could just go home.'He sighed. 'Or I could do the responsible thing and go check up on Steel.'A few minutes later, after dropping off his supplies, Flux made his way to Steel's lab.

The interior of the workshop was vast and dark, lit only by an eerie, cherry-red glow coming from the back. Voices echoed from the bowels of the workshop.
"We could do that, but don't you think it would be more efficient to bypass the transducers and run the ventral emission lattices directly off of the ferrocores?"
The response was a sound akin to that of sanity being ripped from a mind like a bandage from a wound.
"E̙͍̫̣̦̳̝͙͓͑̒̋ͭ̍̑̆ś̩̳͔͇̻̞͖̮͛̉͋͛̇̊t̶͖ͣ͆̈́ͣ ̻̥͔ͥ̍͢͞o̵̰̼̬ͭ̅ͩ͂̒͡p̘͎̝͕̦̟̓̀̎̊e͈͎̘̟͌ͭ̏r̷̲͍͓̥̻͓̮̳̒̇ͪ͆a̦̜͙ͣ̊͜͟e̘͖ͬ̈́ͫ̌̀͛̇ ͩ҉̫̖͍͖̜͔̝̗p̳̜̜̝̝̲̅̌ṙ̥̻̠̦̞͙̱̂ͥ͊̉ͦ͑͟͝ͅe̫̼̔͛̐̐̒ͮ̆̍t̴͇̰͚ͨ̍̓̂͆ͫ̈̈́į̷̞͓̤͕̽̋̀u͓̤̻͖ͦ̑̈̽͆̚m̨͙͚̘̠̳̖̟̓͐͆̏̓ ̈ͭ͐̔͊ͨ͜҉̬̯̠͕o̶̗̤̻̤͍͇̓̒̑ͤ̔ͦͅm̷̦̠͈͍͎̑̃͑ṇ͎̞̏͌ͮͯͨ̅ͅi̭̖̳̩̖̪̘͊̒ͤͮ̏͞ ̻̜͔̓͋ͣ̆ͨ̂͌͢͢sͮ̋͆̉̆͡҉͖͓̺̹͖̹c̯̪̻̥̻ͤ̊̓ͯͪ̃ͤ́͜͡i̖͋͌̑̀e̡͇͍̝̻͉̪̖͕̳ͫͨͧ̍͌̒̐ͦ̓̀ň͈̜̟͓̗̜̇ͪͨ̋̓͢͞ţ̱̜̲̲͔̌͛͒ͭͣͅi̡͈͎̞̼̱͎̝̥͛̿ͥ̉͂̊̊͟͠ą̜̮ͧ͐͋̈́ͪ̀̀."
"Don't give me that," Steel said. "I've been doing this since grade school."

"It's perfectly safe," Steel said. "Look, I'll do it right now - hold on, we have visitors. Come on in, I'm in the back!"

"Yeah. Not the best pay compared to some other jobs, but at least its enjoyable. I get to fly around all day and the winter flights add some nice variety," Nightwing said as Chiselle unwrapped the package. "Nice gear," she said seeing the tools. "Oh thanks, I'm cleaning up my studio and I decided to replace some tools. These were hoof-crafted by a family of ponies outside of Ponyville. They're a bit old fashion, but they do quality work." Chiselle floated one of the chisel over to Nightwing, "Don't you just love the hoof forged steel?" Nightwing looked at the steel, she wasn't an expert and certainly saw little difference in the steel but who was she to say anything when she didn't know what difference to look for in the steel. "It's nice looking," she said with a smile. Her job wasn't in such tools anyways so it didn't really matter what she thought of it.
