"Are you implying I'm not capable of the same thing? Why, I'm offended at the very notion." He pulled one more good sized twig out of his mane. "Yes, I shuck the corn of any male I fancy. But I'm perfectly capable of that platonic stuff. Like Flux. I wouldn't touch him even if you paid me to. Blech." He slapped a band-aid over a little scrape on his forehead. "...Well, maybe if he asked. I mean, I'm never one to turn down a willing offer...uh...forget what I said. Uh...oh, Pebbles!" He pushed his glasses up. "I'd never shag her. For obvious reasons. And we're mildly decent friends...and if you tell anyone I said that, I'll...uh...say something rude to you." Coin smiled and raised an eyebrow. " Then you'll say something rude? You've been polite up until now? If so, I'm honestly curious as to what rudeness would be like." "I consider myself snarky, not rude. When I'm rude...well..." He smoothed his mane back. "Just ask the debate team from my old school. They cried for a solid 30 minutes after a thorough evisceration of the figurative sense. A literary pony has quite the arsenal of the vicious verbal cutdowns." He slapped a band-aid on his knee. "Well, I shan't take anymore of your...well, let's be generous and call it valuable time. Nice seeing you, I suppose." He strolled out the door, though before it closed behind him... "Hey, handsome! Wanna get some coffee?"

Mail, one wouldn't think that one word would carry so much weight, but when you are the major conveyance of information for years then you tend to be considered pretty important, even if you are supplanted by newer technologies or any other disruptive influences. This all meant nothing to Nightwing, an art major from a Manehatten college. She was just looking for independence and a place to use her Art Major. One turned out to be useful for motivation and the other... she needed to get recognition as an artist and the Major choice was a choice of passion for art. Well, at least she got this job at the Winterhaven Mail Service. Chiselle walked into the mail office and pushed her sunglasses up above her horn. "Hey Nightwing, any package come for me today?"

"Wh-what?" Nightwing said as she was snapped out of her stupor. "O-oh, hi Chiselle. Actually, let me see." She looked into her mailbag and found a package labeled for Chiselle. It wasn't all that small nor was it large, just an average sized package really. "Here you go," Nightwing said with a sheepish smile.

Willow frowned a bit at the breakdown of the meeting of the minds. But she quickly smiled again as Autumn extended her hoof and she extended hers. "I'm Willow Burr--yes I named a drink after myself. But anyway, I just moved to Winter Haven a couple of months ago. I've lived in the big cities all my life so it's a nice change of pace. What about you?" Autumn let out a small chuckle and grinned at the bartender pony. "Who are you and why do you sound an awful lot like me?" she questioned jokingly, "I grew up in Manehattan, just graduated from Pranceton a few months ago and moved here shortly after. I do really like the small town feeling here, though. It's very...peaceful." The pegasus glanced over at Willow quizzically. "Just out of curiosity, what city do you hail from? You seem to have rather more...refined tastes than most residents here."

So I'm very much from the west," said Willow. "You said you came from Manehattan? I wanted to go to Coltumbia Law but they didn't like my portfolio as much as Studford. Then again I've never set foot anywhere east of Canterlot before and since. Someday I'd like to go to Manehattan. But Pranceton's a good school. What did you study there?"

"Thank you Nightwing, how have you been?" "Oh, I've been fine. Being a mailmare keeps me moving around so I don't have all that much time for being bored and as long as I get all of my deliveries in by the time the day ends then I can take as long as I need. Gives me some nice downtime when I need it." Nightwing answered.

She started floating carving tools out from the cardboard box and inspecting them. "Hmmm, excellent craftmanship, the blades are nice and sharp and the mallet is good with a nice rubber head," the mare muttered to herself.

Not the best pay compared to some other jobs, but at least its enjoyable. I get to fly around all day and the winter flights add some nice variety," Nightwing said as Chiselle unwrapped the package. "Nice gear," she said seeing the tools.

Flux was still a bit shaken by his conversation with Steel. More so than usual. The idea of a mad scientist in any kind of connection with a demon was enough to make him lose sleep for many nights ahead.
But that was a problem for another day. For now, he had business to take care of in town, and part of that business was a trip to see Coin.
"Hey there Coin," he said as the door closed behind him. "How are you this fine day?"

They're a bit old fashion, but they do quality work." Chiselle floated one of the chisel over to Nightwing, "Don't you just love the hoof forged steel?"

Autumn's gait unconsciously turned into more of a strut, and she raised her head up proudly before opening her mouth. "Weather engineering!" she replied with a grin and a wink, "and I'm sure it's quite the surprise, me being a pegasus and all."

He sighed and made his way to the counter. "For some reason," he whispered, leaning close, "Steel has captured a demon and is using it to power some piece of technology. What's worse, it's a piece of tech HE invented!"

"Weather engineering!" she replied with a grin and a wink, "and I'm sure it's quite the surprise, me being a pegasus and all." "Well, that is no surprise," said Willow. "Have you got a job with the town weather commission yet? I know Winter Haven recently split off from the Greater Smoky Mountains Weather Commission to better control the snowfall and such. It's funny, the area's been settled for quite a while now and had its own school, post office, and of course civic center, but no separate weather commission. Then again, Ponyville, with its new princess, still gets all their weather handled by Cloudsdale." She looked down at the mojitos and Willow Burrs still in her box. They already looked like they were starting to weaken in the summer sun. She resolved to get some ice as soon as she could get out of the conversation.
